2011-12 School Room

I love back to school time. I love that summer will be coming to a close and my favorite time of year – Autumn – will be arriving! Such beautiful colors cover the earth during this time of year. :)

In our home, we have a nice size room for schooling. It’s about 16 x 14 in size. I finally got around to tidying it up a bit (quite a bit, trust me). The closet is still messy but hey… I can’t win ‘em all! Thought I would show you where we do the bulk of our schooling. Sometimes we do find ourselves reading together in different areas of the house (the beds are the best for that!). Some science experiments happen in the kitchen… but most things happen in this room. Easily my favorite area of the house to be.

Note: You can click on the photos to see a somewhat bigger picture if you need/want.

This is what you see from the hallway. Hannah’s guitar (still need to find someone to give lessons… or to find a good program for self teaching).

Looking in from the door.

The table the kids work at. Door is for the closet.

I used two sets of wire racks to hold the lighter books… chapter books, series (Little House, Anne of Green Gables, etc). The bottom row holds some of the heavier ones. Shelves above hold my binders (home binder, bible study bible, and bible binder… plus more).

The chalkboard holds their Scripture of the week. If you can read it, there is a mistake on it. I know. I have fixed it now… but wasn’t going to retake the photo. Bookcase holds mostly just my books but there are a few for schooling there as well. White sterilite drawers hold crayons, markers, foam, etc.

Just another picture of where the kids sit. Maps behind them and a poster of the books of the Bible as well.

The other sterilite drawers which hold more things like pencils, colored pencils, glue, markers, etc. Colored drawers hold their workbox style work. Above the sterilite drawers is my laminator and above the colored drawers is all of the kids’ binders for school work.

My desk. It actually is decently clean although it still looks cluttered to me. Teacher books are on the shelf above the computer. Important files are kept in the filing cabinet.

Colored drawers here are for me to hold miscellaneous things. Printer sits on it.

Here is looking into the closet. It’s about 12 ft x 6 ft I think. It holds a lot of junk… err um, stuff. Puzzles, games, coloring books… extra paper, notebooks, and binders. Plus a whole slew of books and craft items in there as well.

A close up of some of the books in there.

That’s our school room! Nothing too fancy but it gets the job done. We love having a place to keep our stuff and if we are working on things, we don’t have to worry about putting it all away for company or Daddy coming home, etc. I am thankful to have the room and so blessed that hubby has allowed all of this. God is good to us! Thanks for taking a peek into a room of ours!!! Have a great day!

2010-2011 Curriculum

Not Back to School Blog Hop

This week for the Heart of the Matter Not Back to School Blog Hop, we are doing Curriculum Week. This will be fun. We start back to school this week (we school Tuesday through Friday with projects and make up work on Saturdays). So today we “officially” go back to school Yay! Currently, this is what is on the agenda for the year.

Our kids are 9 and 7. For the most part, they will be doing the same things. There will be some differences but not much.

I posted this without photos so had to go back and take some pictures. I am a visual person and I am sure many others are as well. If you are not visual, pass the pics and read below!
